1.8.1. Prerequisites for Building Linux

To build Linux on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS using Ångström, there are certain packages that must be pre-installed. To install these packages, type the following commands: 

sudo apt-get install gawk wget git-core diffstat unzip texinfo gcc-multilib \
build-essential chrpath libsdl1.2-dev xterm
