Why does the report page of the Power and Thermal Calculator display “810/VID” in the Voltage column for VCC when using an Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA SmartVID device?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Power and Thermal Calculator of Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 20.4 and earlier, the report page incorrectly displays "810/VID" in the Voltage column for VCC when using an Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA SmartVID device.
The "810" portion of "810/VID" does not mean the Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA SmartVID device operates at 810mV of VCC. This is because the VID-fuse and temperature properly determine the voltage of VCC.

    Resolution

Ignore the “810” portion of "810/VID" in the Voltage column for VCC on the Power and Thermal Calculator report page when using an Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA SmartVID device.
This problem has been fixed in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.1.
