What am I seeing?
When trying to update the firmware of the Intel® Entry Storage System SS4200-E using Firefox as the browser, it gives an error:
The file does not exist, check the file name.

The error occurs in the following scenario:

  1. Open the Storage Manager and proceed to the Settings Tab.
  2. Select Click here to update the device. Select to Copy Update File.
  3. Browse to the .tgz update file location, select the file, and click Next.

What are some workarounds I can use?

Workaround 1:
Use Internet Explorer 6.x or above instead of Firefox.

Workaround 2:
Install and use IE Tab Add-On Option in Firefox 3.0.x.

Workaround 3:
Follow the below procedure to update the firmware using Firefox:

  1. Open the Storage Manager and proceed to the Settings Tab.
  2. Select Click here to update the device.
  3. Click Copy Update File.
  4. Browse to the .tgz update file location, select the file, and click Next.
  5. In Firefox, choose: Tools > Options > Content menu and Uncheck:
    • Block pop-up windows
    • Load images automatically
    • Enable JavaScript
    • Enable Java
  6. Select OK to close the configuration window.
  7. Select Next to perform the update.
  8. Soon the perform update page appears. Select Apply here.
  9. The update occurs with the resulting progress bar.
  10. The progress bar may halt when the system reboots (The fans go high as the reboot occurs).
  11. Close and reopen Mozilla Firefox.
  12. Re-enable the disabled; Tools > Options > Content settings and refresh the browser.
