How do I recover a lost Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) administrator password? Remove the CMOS (RTC) battery from the motherboard and wait at least five minutes before replacing it. This action resets the computer back to a factory default state, allowing you to use the default password of admin to access the Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) and Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT). You need to reprovision the client after using your password.

Depending on the computer model and BIOS version, you might have to re-enable Intel AMT, SOL, and IDE-R in BIOS.

Can I provision a system that uses an underscore in the host name?DNS RFC does not support special characters. While Microsoft* DNS may allow special characters for Microsoft host names, it is not recommended.
How do I disable the Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) privacy notification window? A privacy notification window automatically displays when you log on to an Intel AMT system. You can disable the notification by selecting the “Do not display this message” checkbox.

You can also disable the privacy notification window and keep the application running by modifying a registry key.

  1. Open the registry and locate the key KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Network_Services\atchk].
  2. Create a dword value named MinimizePrivacyIconAtStart and set its value to 00000001.
Where can I find information on Intel® vPro™ Platform and Linux*? Information about Linux* support for Intel® Core™2 Processor with vPro™ Platform is available at the open-source Intel® AMT Drivers and Tools site*.
Does Intel AMT register to the DNS server independently of the operating system? The Intel ME does not independently update DNS. It relies on either the DHCP server or the operating system to update the DNS server. If the DNS is being updated with the same name for every client, it is likely that the DHCP server is updating DNS every time it allocates an IP lease to each Intel AMT client.

You need to either provide a unique name for every Intel AMT client or disable DNS updates from the DHCP server.

Are multiple network cards supported? The Intel® AMT feature of Intel® Core™2 Processor with vPro™ Technology doesn't support multiple network cards. Intel AMT communicates only through the onboard network interface of Intel Core2 Processor with vPro Technology.
